News, March 8: Market research company Omdia reported on March 7 that the price of 32-inch to 65-inch LCD panels rose about 4.5 percent last month. Among them, the price of 55-inch 4K LCD panels rose from US182 to US191, an increase of more than 70 percent over a year ago. Similarly, the price of 65-inch LCD panels jumped from US170 to US242.

Last month, the price of LCD panels returned to the level of three years ago. In 2017, manufacturers including BOE and CSOT began to supply products at prices lower than Korean products, after which LCD panel prices began to show a long-term downward trend. In August 2018, the price of a 55-inch 4K LCD panel was US192, but it fell to US100 in December 2019, a year later.

But recently, major LCD suppliers have increased their prices. The main reason is that the epidemic has led to a surge in demand for LCD panels for televisions, computers and other electronic products, and prices have also risen accordingly.

On the other hand, the prices of more advanced OLED panels are being removed from the shelves. Data shows that from 2019 to the present, the price difference between 55-inch 4K LCD and OLED TV panels has dropped from 4.6 times to 2.9 times, and is expected to drop to 2.6 times by 2023. The trend of OLED panels replacing LCDs is becoming more and more obvious, and the use of OLED panels in electronic products will become a trend in the future.
